Hackelboö is located in lake Järnlunden. The island has a varied nature, where you who travel on highway 23/34, which goes over the island, can rest for a while and perhaps take a walk along the water's edge.

In Hackelboö Nature Reserve there is a mosaic of coniferous and deciduous forests, marshes and oak pastures. In spring you can enjoy a floral splendor with various sips, tooth root, gullvivor, lily of the valley, lung wort and spring pea. Along the beach to the west there are rocky outcrops where it is possible to swim. There is also a sandy beach with a fireplace just north of Tjurhuvud.
