Hamra ekhagar nature reserve

Nature reserve with old oaks

Along Ämmern's beautiful beach lies the nature reserve Hamra ekhagar. As the name says, nature here is dominated by lush and open pastures with oak. The place name Hamra has ancient origins and the land in the area has a long historical past as a cultivated landscape.
Hamra ekhagar is a scenic area with lake views throughout the reserve. On the other side of the lake you can see another nature reserve, namely the oak slopes at Räckeskog. On the ground in the open and sparsely oak-covered pastures bloom cowslip, butterball and daisies. In the leafier, grove-like areas there are blisters, wound heal and lily of the valley.
